FYI:
A few notes – Riced Buttermilk squash is just steamed squash that has been pressed through a ricer. I have a tendency to use a ricer for starchy vegetables like potatoes, sweet potatoes, drier varieties of squash, etc. It produces a very light texture side dish and I prefer it to “mashing”.

The hot-wings that are planned for this week, if you’ve been following our previous weeks, were picked up a couple weeks ago during a great sale.

Normally I would make my own cool-whip or buy a cheaper (off brand), but I’ve found that it just doesn’t hold up well for my peach cream pie recipe. Normally I would purchase this item between November and the the first of the new year when the tubs are on clearance for .50 or so- and stock up with 12-15 for use throughout the year. The only ones I was able to find dirt cheap this year was the “extra creamy” and the cinnamon flavored ones, so I opted to go without.

Also, if you’re just joining us, please note that we raise chickens and have a massive bounty of fresh eggs, often upwards of a dozen or two per day.

If you’re still struggling to stay within a limited budget, check out our menu’s from last year and follow them from week to week to learn how to build up your pantry and freezer, by taking advantage of various deals.
