2012 $50 Weekly Menu Plan Week #49: This week we ended up finding some great deals on a few items, butter, cereal, mangoes, pineapple, pomegranates and greens. As we mentioned last week, we discovered a local veggie shop that offers 1/2 price produce on Mondays, it’s worth it to shop locally and check around and pay attention to when things become freshly re-stocked. If you have a habit of eating fresh produce right away when you purchase it, you can often find great discounts by buying it just before the store/market restocks.
We also found name brand cereal on sale for $1.25 a box – which is a great deal in itself (if you don’t mind clipping coupons) you can easily get an additional .50 of the deal, to make it even sweeter. Our local stores frequently have better deals on Sunday afternoons/nights and Monday mornings.
Total Spent this week $55.63– purchased 12 boxes of cereal, 14 pounds of butter, lettuce, celery, carrots, cabbage, mango, pomegranates, pineapples, green peppers, cauliflower, vanilla yogurt, milk, sour cream and cream cheese. We still have a few tangelos and grapefruit leftover from last week, so we’re incorporating those into this weeks menu as well.
