    • Copycat Dunkin Donuts Honey Glazed

Copycat Dunkin Donuts Recipe Love the light fluffy taste of honey glazed donuts, but your favorite store is too far away to buy fresh ones? Make your own! This delicious donut recipe is relatively simple to prepare and you can have fresh hot donuts in less than an hour.
      2 1/4 tsp active yeast
      2 T. Lukewarm Water (105F-110F)
      3/4
      c. Warm Milk (105-110F)
      2 1/2 T. Melted Butter
      1 egg
      1/3 c. Granulated Sugar
      1 tsp salt
      2 3/4 C. Flour
      1 tsp Vanilla

      Glaze:
      1/3 c. melted butter
      2 c. confectioners sugar
      1 tsp vanilla extract
      1/3 c. Hot water
      1 tsp honey

Mix yeast in 1 c. of the flour, add sugar. Combine water, milk, melted butter, and egg in the mixer, add the flour/yeast/sugar mixture blending well (about 3 minutes). Add vanilla, salt and remaining flour. The dough should be quite soft, but not sticky.

Donuts RisingCover the dough and let rise until double. (I generally use the **moist oven method for faster results.) Dough has risen enough when an indentation remains when you poke it.

roll out donutsOn a heavily floured surface, roll dough out 1/2" thick and cut out the donuts using a donut cutter dipped in flour.

Let the donuts rise/set for 15 minutes. In the meantime, heat up the oil for frying. The oil needs to be about 350F in order to prevent it from saturating the dough.

      Let donuts rest

Fry for approximately 60 seconds each side, turning only ONCE. Remove from hot oil, place on paper towels, cool for 5-7 minutes before glazing.

      fry donuts

To make glaze: Combine butter, confectioners sugar, vanilla, honey and hot water in a small bowl, blending until smooth. Dunk the donuts into the glaze

      Moist Oven Method: Preheat
the oven to 200F, place a loaf pan filled halfway with boiling water in the oven. SHUT OVEN OFF.
Place dough in warm, moist oven to rise. This method generally reduces rising time by half.

For many people struggling to maintain a budget, the cost of groceries is the only major expense in their control that can be drastically reduced without feeling a negative impact on their lifestyle. Liss explains in detail how to make simple changes that will not only pinch pennies, but help pinch Benji’s too!
