Weekly Menu Week #16 weekly Menu Plan Series 2012 $50 Weekly Menu Week #16: This week's menu is comprised of many garden delights, particularly fresh tomatoes and basil. Luckily things are growing well and we're able to enjoy the fresh veggies, while at the same time saving a little hard earned cash! Total out of pocket expense for Groceries
      $31.65
Our Garden is producing lettuce and tomatoes quite well, so while at the farmers market I picked up potatoes, green peppers, celery, a few cukes, mushrooms, strawberries - which seems like I've hit the near end of these!), and fresh broccoli. Our favorite local grocery store had a decent price on ribs this week and since we went low carb last week, we're all looking forward to homemade tomato basil pasta this week- a favorite dirt cheap dish that costs less than .30 to feed the entire family- even with today's prices! The chicken is starting to get low, so we'll be keeping an eye out for sales again so we can pick up a case at around $1.55 a pound.

If you're new to our Menus, we get about 15 fresh eggs per day from our chickens, have a small garden, several herbs growing in the house for quick, flavorful side dishes.

The average family of 4 in the United States spends more than $700 a month on groceries alone. In the “2012 Family Guide to Groceries under $250 a Month" the author outlines how and where to cut grocery expenses to get spending under control while opening the consumers eyes to little known dirty manipulation tactics employed by retailers to seduce unsuspecting customers into spending sprees.
