2012 $50 Weekly Menu Week #18: Part of learning how to live with a tight grocery budget is learning how and when to take advantage of good deals. Some weeks you may spend $100, other weeks $10-$12 on just the essentials (Milk, Bread, eggs, flour, sugar). Bacon is a wonderful item to have on hand in the freezer. It often takes just a couple slices to really add a little pizzazz to a recipe and get even the pickiest of eaters to dig into a new dish. This week we picked up a whopping 10# box of thick sliced slab bacon for $20 by closely watching the sales cycles for our favorite grocery stores.

Spinach is available in abundance from my own garden, so that will be incorporated into this weeks menu plan several times. Aldis had wonderful deals which included fresh pineapple for .99, 6 kiwi fruits for .99, artisan lettuce for $1.99, celery .99, bananas for .44#, strawberries for .99qt, Milk for $2.78 a gallon, Pears for .99, Fresh Broccoli .99, Other items in the grocery cart this week: yogurt, cheese, yeast, pretzel rods, cranberry juice mushrooms, & cream cheese. Total spent this week: $44.93

Monday 30th:

* Breakfast: Copycat Cinnabon Rolls
* Lunch: Bermuda Spinach salad
* Dinner
: Shrimp Stir-Fry over Jasmine Rice

Tuesday 1st:

* Breakfast: Poached eggs on Toast
* Lunch: Wraps made with Leftover Shrimp Stir-Fry
* Dinner
: Garlic Broccoli Penne, Garlic Texas Toast

Wednesday 2nd

* Breakfast: Cinnamon Raisin Toast
* Lunch: Kiwi Strawberry Spinach Salad
* Dinner
: Grilled Chicken with Kiwi Salsa

Thursday 3rd:

* Breakfast: Rhubarb Ginger Fool
* Lunch: Wraps made with leftover grilled chicken/kiwi salsa
* Dinner
: Crab Stuffed Baked Halibut, Salad

Friday 4th:

* Breakfast: Mexican Egg Puffs
* Lunch: Bermuda Spinach salad
* Dinner: Cornbread Taco Throw Together

Saturday 5th:

* Breakfast: Maple Almond Scones w Vanilla Glaze
* Lunch: Grilled cheese & tomato
* Dinner
: 7th Heaven Chicken, Salad

Sunday 6th:

* Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs & Toast
* Midday Meal
: Meatloaf, Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Salad

Various Snacks:

* Fresh Fruit- Pineapple, Bananas, Kiwis, pears
* Deviled Eggs
* Cinnamon Apple Cherry Cheese Ball

Drinks included:

* Iced Tea (Sweet Tea)
* Coffee
* Lemonade
* Copycat Gatorade
* CopyCat Arizona Green Tea

FYI:If you’re a coupon clipper you’ll want to note that there have been many coupons popping up for hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauces, etc. Make sure you print these out while you can, as they’ll be on sale in just a few short weeks and you can often get bottles of salad dressings and other condiments for free or less than .20 a bottle.
