Delicious breakfast bars filled with your favorite flavor of jam for a filling, tasty breakfast on the go. Whether the kids are heading out to the school bus, off to play dates or seasonal activities, these make ahead bars are perfect.You'll Need:
Bars:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole
1/2 cup Old Fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or shortening, softened
1 egg
1 cup blackberry, strawberry, raspberry or any flavor jam EXCEPT freezer jam
Topping:
1/4 c. White flour
1/4 c. Whole Wheat Flour
1/4 c. Old Fashioned Oats
1/4 c. butter
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Heat oven to 350°F. Line the bottom of an 8"x8" pan with foil, or parchment paper.

In medium bowl prepare the base of the bar by adding flours, sugar, oatmeal, butter and egg, mixing with an electric mixer on low speed until crumbly. Press the bar dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Spread the Jam evenly over the dough. Here I'm using homemade blackberry jam.

In a small bowl combing the ingredients listed for the topping. Sprinkle generously over the top of the bars.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown, cool completely before cutting. Makes 12 bars
