2014 $50 Budget Menu Plan Week #24: Welcome to week #24 of our families $50 grocery budget! If you’ve been faithfully following our menu plans, you may have noticed that we didn’t get around to sharing our menu plan last week! We had family come in from out of state to attend our son’s Graduation and with a full house I just didn’t get a chance to sit and type it all out. We apologize for letting you down!

This week we purchased the following: Beef Filet (Aldi), 10#’s Ground Turkey, Cream Cheese, Apples, half & half, pound of ham, Sliced American Cheese, cantaloupe, Cottage Cheese, Ricotta Cheese, Greek Yogurt, Almond Milk (Aldi brand), olives, bananas

From our Backyard: Fresh Eggs (Getting nearly 3 dozen per day)

From our Windowsill/ Garden: Lettuce, Chives, Scallions, Fresh Herbs (Cilantro, Parsley, Rosemary, dill, oregano, basil), Spinach, beet greens, baby carrots, onions (grown from scraps), green peppers, Cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, Tomatoes,

Total spent this week on groceries $53.14

For those keeping track, last weeks menu/grocery expense came to $41.88

Breakfast Options for this week: (Fresh Fruit Choices, Apples, bananas, cantaloupe)

Monday June 9th:

  • Lunch: Steamed Red Hot Dogs w/ Homemade Zucchini Relish
  • Dinner: Maine Lobster/Seafood Chowder, Garlic Texas Toast

  • Lunch: Roasted Garlic Bagels with Olive Tapenade
  • Dinner: Get together with Friends, Bringing Beef Filet for the grill, fresh marinated grilling veggies (zucchini/summer squash/onions)

FYI:The red hot dogs listed in this weeks menu were actually brought to us from Maine. Red hot dogs (aka snappahs) are unique to Yankees highly coveted. The seafood chowder was also a “taste from Home”, so to speak and was brought to us by family.
