Here is a relatively inexpensive recipe that will feed the entire family for under $2.50 for the entire dish. Serves well with Baked Potato and a steamed veggie.

1 lb. ground beef (or ground turkey w/ 2 Tsp Beef Bouillion added to it)
    1 C. milk
    1 C. cracker crumbs
    1/4 tsp.

    pepper
    1 tsp. salt
    1 small onion, chopped

    Gravy
    1 can mushroom soup
    1 C. water or milk

Mix all together, except soup and water/milk and shape into a narrow loaf.
Let sit in refrigerator for at least 8 hours or overnight.

Cut loaf into slices and fry in a skillet on both sides until browned Put
slices in baking dish Mix 1 can mushroom soup with 1 cup of water or milk
and pour over each piece Bake at 325 for 35-40 minutes

This recipe sounds lovely, I would saute some mushrooms to add to it.

    Hi there,
I live in Massachusetts. This is an idea for anyone in the country though. Buy a cheap roast and have them grind it. I find roasts can be cheaper than hamburg.

It is awesome hamburg after it has been freshly grinded.

Love the idea of getting the roast ground. Hamburger is high priced in my area too.

I have been making something similar for a while, 1lb of ground anything, i usually do lean ground beef, 1 box of chicken stuffing mix, and 1 egg. You cook the stuffing, let it cool, then mix everything together, form patties and cook in the skillet…. i always make green bean casserole with this, they go great together!
