2012 $50 Weekly Menu Week #24-School’s out for the Summer and suddenly we’re finding ourselves with a very full house of teenagers at all hours! Feeding teens on the cheap during the summertime isn’t always easy, nor is adding in enough munchie-type items to keep them full and happy. Here’s our menu and munchie plan for this week, coming in at $42.16.
Most of this weeks menu went towards fresh vegetables for salads- which are prepared ahead of time and placed in individual serving bowls. In the summer months we do this so that the kids can just grab a bowl and have the perfect serving.
We picked up a few basics this week as well, milk, cottage cheese, cabbage, asparagus, onions, cream cheese, carrots, case of ramen noodles and apples.
Hardboiled eggs are great as well for snacking, as the kids can chop them up into wraps or on top of salads with a bit of crumbled bacon (both of our teenage sons LOVE this, as do many of their friends).

For those that are just joining our weekly menus, we do raise our own chickens (for fresh eggs) and get about a dozen per day- So if you’re noticing a large number of eggs in our menu, that’s why!
