2012 $50 Weekly Menu Plan Week #34-Welcome to this weeks $50 weekly menu plan! If you’ve been following our series for any length of time, you know that prices have been steadily creeping up due to various economic factors, including the drought that has taken hold of the midwest. This week, our focus is on quick meals due to the back to school schedules, sports and work!

Since meat has already been taken care of in previous weeks, our focus was mainly on fruits and vegetables and a few meager pantry items.

We purchased the following:

Mangoes .59 ea
Bananas .44# x 3#
Red/Green Grapes $1.09# x2
Kiwi Fruits $1.29 (6 kiwi)
Raisin Bran $1.59
Artisan Lettuce $1.99
Milk $3.18
Celery $1.29
Onions $1.50
Tortilla Chips $1.69
Black Beans .69
Cucumbers .79 ea
Zucchini $1.29 (24oz)
Summer Squash $1.29 (24oz)
Tomatoes= Free (garden)
Eggs= Free (our own hens)
Eggplant = Free (garden)
Jalapeno Peppers =free (Garden)
Cool Whip .99
Cream Cheese $1.09 x 3

Pantry Restock:
Oatmeal $1.99
Sugar $2.29
Wheat Flour $1.89
Coffee $5.99
Total Spent $38. – the remaining $12 will go back in the monthly grocery budget kitty, to be spent another week when the deals are a bit better.

Monday 20th:

* Breakfast: Raisin Bran Muffins
* Lunch: PB& J, Grape Salad
* Dinner: Cajun Pork Roast, Roasted Potatoes with Rosemary sprigs, garlic green beans

Tuesday 21st:

* Breakfast: Scrambled Egg/Cheese/Bacon Wraps
* Lunch: Pulled Pork Wraps
* Dinner: Garden Bounty Summer Saute

Wednesday 22nd:

* Breakfast: Muff-Nuts
* Lunch: Eggplant Gateau
* Dinner: Chinese Chop Suey, jasmine rice

Thursday 23rd:

* Breakfast: Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
* Lunch: Dilled Egg Salad Wraps
* Dinner: Grilled Chicken over Rosemary Pepper Pasta, Salad

Friday 24th:

* Breakfast: Jam Breakfast Bars
* Lunch: Tuna Salad (With grape pieces!) Wraps
* Dinner: Stuffed Syrian Squash

Saturday 25th:

* Breakfast: Biscuits & Gravy with Copycat Jimmy Dean Sausage
* Midday-Dinner Get together with friends/ bringing salsa/tortilla chips, pork ribs

Sunday 26th:

* Breakfast: Banana French Toast
* Lunch: Teriyaki Chow Mein(using leftovers from get together day before & frozen broccoli)
* Dinner: New England Chop Suey, Salad, toasted garlic bread

Various Snacks & Dessert Items:

* Fresh Bananas
* Mango Slices
* Peaches
* Tortilla Chips & Homemade Salsa
* Banana Coconut Ramen Pudding

Drinks included:

* Iced Tea (Sweet Tea)
* Coffee
* Lemonade
* Copycat Gatorade
* CopyCat Arizona Green Tea

A few things I’d like to share: Generally speaking we prefer to make our own Tortilla wraps (mainly because their isn’t anything to them, but also because I can control the amount of fat and salt that goes into them as well.) If you have a food dehydrator and wish to sneak in additional nutrition, you can easily adapt them by adding chopped sundried tomatoes, powdered beets or spinach, etc.
