2013 $50 Weekly Menu Plan Week #30: When we put our small garden in originally, I had intended it to be a salsa garden, but I didn’t realize that I’d be canning batch after batch all summer long! This week we purchased the following . . : Artisan lettuce, apples, bread, cabbage, fresh broccoli, flank steaks, onions Total of $19.17
Items harvested from the garden include: about 15lbs of tomatoes, a 5 gallon pail of cucumbers, several large zucchini, summer squash, okra, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, carrots and radishes.
This week we cleaned out the freezer to get ready for an upcoming meat restocking week. As we warned last winter, the drought that affected the midwest has drastically increased meat prices in our area (and in yours as well, I’m sure!). We still had several hams from easter sales, so we’ll be dining on that this week and stretching into several different meals.
