If you’re tired of coming home after work and staring into your pantry trying to figure out what’s for dinner, this idea is for you! Or, if you’re tired of having a meal already planned only to find that you kids/spouse/their friends have eaten half of the ingredients needed to Make the dinner, this idea is for you!
We are totally adoring this great idea we discovered on Better Homes & Gardens. Pick up a few inexpensive baskets or small totes and label them by the days of the week.
Once you’ve created your weekly menu plan, place the (non-perishable) ingredients needed to prepare each dinner within the tote, by day.
Example: If Wednesday is Spaghetti Day – place an onion, pasta, sauce and Italian bread in the bin.
Print out the recipe card needed to prepare the meal listed in the tote, along with a little note of any refrigerated items still needed to complete the recipe.
Now, whomever gets home first can Start preparing dinner and you don’t have to worry about the kids or spouse eating the ingredients necessary to complete each meal!
