• 2012 $50 Weekly Menu Week #18

2012 $50 Weekly Menu Week #18: Part of learning how to live with a tight grocery budget is learning how and when to take advantage of good deals. Some weeks you may spend $100, other weeks $10-$12 on just the essentials (Milk, Bread, eggs, flour, sugar). Bacon is a wonderful item to have on hand in the freezer. It often takes just a couple slices to really add a little pizzazz to a recipe and get even the pickiest of eaters to dig into a new dish. This week we picked up a whopping 10# box of
thick sliced slab bacon for $20 by closely watching the sales cycles for our favorite grocery stores.

Spinach is available in abundance from my own garden, so that will be incorporated into this weeks menu plan several times. Aldis had wonderful deals which included fresh pineapple for .99, 6 kiwi fruits for .99, artisan lettuce for $1.99, celery .99, bananas for .44#, strawberries for .99qt, Milk for $2.78 a gallon, Pears for .99, Fresh Broccoli .99, Other items in the grocery cart this week: yogurt, cheese, yeast, pretzel rods, cranberry juice mushrooms, & cream cheese. Total spent this week: $44.93
