This savory side dish can be made for under.75 in the summer months by taking advantage of in-season veggie sales.
Small Summer squash and zucchini are frequently available for 4/$1 during the summer months. In this particular case, we picked these out of our garden. So the only expense was the dill.

You’ll Need:
1 small Zucchini
2 small summer squash
2 tsp Dill Weed
light sprinkle of Garlic Salt & Pepper

Cut the squashes into coins/slices and arrange in a steamer pan. Here we are using an orka steamer, which is a silicone steam cooker that steams veggies in the microwave.

Sprinkle generously with dill weed, add a touch of salt and pepper. Stir gently to coat the squash evenly. Add a tablespoon or so of water.

Cover and steam for 4 1/2 minutes. (Yes, that’s it! A side dish in under 5 minutes). If you’re using the large Ziplock Steamer Bags, you’ll need to cook this for 5 minutes.

We prefer to use the steamer for most side dishes because it cooks rapidly, loses fewer nutrients than boiling and makes the perfect side dish serving for 4 people.

Pair this with Honey Dijon Chicken for a Wonderful healthy meal.
