• Liss' Yankee Chili

An amazing blend of spices with a secret ingredient you'll hardly believe for a smoky chili with just the right amount of heat and zip. A hearty "mans" dish, made with *shhhhhhh* ground turkey!

    You'll Need:
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 red onion, diced
    5 cloves garlic, minced
2 small green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
1 habanero pepper, seeded and chopped
2 pounds lean ground turkey or half turkey have lean beef or all lean beef
1 (1 ounce) envelope instant hot chocolate
    mix
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with green chile peppers, drained
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup cheap beer- like Busch's
1/2 cup whole kernel corn (frozen or canned, drained)
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce, we use Franks
    2 tablespoons chili powder
    2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
    1 tablespoon paprika
    1 tablespoon ground cumin
    2 teaspoons dried oregano
    2 teaspoons seasoned salt
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper

In a large Skillet, heat the oil
over medium heat. Saute onions, green pepper, habanero pepper and garlic until the onions are translucent. Add the ground meat and cook it, crumbling it with a spatula. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally.

Add the seasonings, chili powder, red pepper flakes, paprika, cumin, oregano, pepper, hot cocoa mix and seasoned salt, mixing well to incorporate, then, stir in Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, diced tomatoes with green chilies, tomato sauce and kidney beans, mixing well. Now, here's the hard part, Crack open a beer- we recommend you take a swig to make sure it tastes okay- pour in about 1/3 of the can, Drink or discard the rest. Reduce the heat, place a cover over 3/4's of the pot, let it simmer for about 45 minutes or so.

Add the corn & hot pepper sauce, and continue to simmer, partially covered for about
    10 more minutes.

    Serve with Cornbread.
