Salisbury steak is an easy throw together dish that is made with ground beef or turkey, bread crumbs, condensed soup and then simmered in a rich mushroom gravy, serve it with garlic smashed potatoes and salad for quick, nearly effortless meal.
This dish is a wonderful way to use cheaper ground meat such as 73% lean vs 90% lean. It works well with ground venison and turkey as well.

You’ll Need:
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1 1/2 pounds ground beef or Turkey
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2- 1 c. sliced mushrooms (optional)

In a medium sized bowl combine ground beef or turkey, 1/3 c. condensed soup, bread crumbs, s&po and egg mixing well. Shape into 4-6 large patties. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat.

When the skillet is sufficiently hot, add the patties and brown on both sides, drain off any excess fat.

While the patties are cooking, combine the flour and remaining condensed soup in a small bowl until smooth and fully incorporated. Add ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder, mixing well.

Pour the mixture over the browned patties, reduce heat to medium low, cover and cook for about 18-20 minutes. Stir the gravy occasionally to prevent scorching. During the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the mushrooms to the top.

  2. My family loved this tonight and it was so easy to make. My husband is looking forward to making a sandwich out of the leftovers.

  3. Very good and easy to make, a special on ground turkey brought me here, I used golden mushroom soup because that’s what I had on hand, forgot to add a third of the soup to the meat mix, but turned out great, I I am an elderly lady, just me and my dog and at the end of the day after gardening and other chores it nice to have a good dinner in the fridge, bet these would freeze well too, individual portions.

  4. Any suggestions for substituting the condensed french onion soup? I have the MYO condensed soup recipe from budget101.com but I don’t know if just adding dried diced onion to it would suffice? I would love any help or suggestions, thank you!!
