• Cantaloupe Frenzy Smoothie

Cantaloupe is a wonderful choice for a delicious smoothie, it's light, refreshing and cooling, particularly towards the end of summer when the heat feels sweltering! This super simple smoothie is a perfect afterschool snack or a light pick-me-up treat at the end of a long day.
Whenever we pick fresh melons, we prepare them ahead of time by peeling and dicing them, then placing them in mason jars, then sealing them with the handheld foodsaver. This keeps the melon fresh throughout the week and prevents it from spoiling prematurely.

    You'll Need:

    3 cups Diced cantaloupe chunks
2 Tbs Sugar (or 1 1/2 Tbs Honey)
    2 cups Ice Cubes

Place all ingredients in a mason jar and attach the blender blade, gasket and bottom to the jar. Puree until smooth. Alternatively, if your blender blade and bottom do not fit a mason jar, you can just use your blender!

This is very light and refreshing, serve it with a sprig of fresh mint if you have some.

    Other options:

~ Add 1/2 c. of Strawberries OR Banana

    ~ Add 1/4- 1/2 c. Greek Yogurt (for protein!)

~ If the melon is overripe you might want to omit the sugar altogether.

~ For an extra burst of flavor add 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
