Hearty apple crisp recipe that combines fresh cooking oats with crisp apple slices, cinnamon, nutmeg and a sweet crumbly topping that will melt in your mouth!
Ingredients:
4-6 Large Apples (Preferably Macs or Cortlands), peeled & cut into thin slices
1 stick butter, softened
1 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Mix the white sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon together, pour over apple slices and mix well. If the apples aren’t tart add 1 tsp lemon juice. Dump into a large glass baking dish. In a small bowl combine brown sugar and butter, then cinnamon, nutmeg, extract, oats, and flour to make a streusel topping. Spread liberally over the apple slices. Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes, until browned, bubbly and apples are soft.
I know what’s for dessert tonight!
How much white sugar is in this? It only reads 1/2 sugar. Thank you.
1/2 Cup- thank you for letting me know. Sometimes when I type these out my fingers don’t work as fast as I’d like them too
No problem, glad I could be of assistance 😉 I am looking forward to trying this recipe. 🙂
