Do you buy little tubs of frosting because they’re “Convenient”? Throw out those little tubs containing odd ingredients and opt for this super fast, super easy 2-minute chocolate frosting recipe… you’ll NEVER go back!
This recipe really is all about convenience. The most time-consuming part is measuring out a couple of ingredients, but seriously, how long does it take to really measure a cup of something?
You’ll Need:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or bittersweet)
1/4 cup canned evaporated milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
How to make it:
Are you ready? This is SOOOOO difficult, measure everything except the powdered sugar into a glass bowl. Stick it in the microwave and heat it for 30 seconds, remove, stir, put it back into the microwave for 15-20 seconds, remove, stir. If it’s smooth add the powdered sugar and stir until very smooth. If the chocolate still has unmelted chocolate chips, return to the microwave for another 15 seconds.
Frost the cake while it’s still warm (the frosting -not the cake). This goes very well with Kahlua Wacky Cake!
As for substitutions- we’re all about saving money and using what you have on hand, rather than having to go buy something for a recipe, with that in mind, here are some simple substitutes you can use if you’d like:
Evaporated Milk: use equal amounts of Almond Milk
Butter: use equal amounts of margarine, coconut, canola or vegetable oil – Personally, I think Paula Dean was right- butter tastes best, but use what you have!
